Halloween 2014

Midwestern's Safe Halloween is one of the funnest events of the year! It's all about the kids and everything is free :)
Trying out Owen's costume

This year Ryan & Owen were cowboys! They looked so cute. Ry carried around his stick horse and Owen's horse was pinned to his pants- courtesy of Ryan. It was pretty hilarious when Owen would walk. This horse would fling from side to side. Even though we told him he couldn't have candy if he took the horse off, he really didn't seem to mind that it was there.

We met up with the Larson's to go Trick or Treating around campus. Kenzie was the little girl off of Despicable Me

They LOVED when they got to choose their own candy- and were both VERY good at only picking ONE.   But why is it they always choose the hard sticky candy.....instead of the yummy soft chocolate candy that Mom wants!?

Maynes & Larson's

We had a great time- the only dower was that it was still pretty hot outside. It was in the 90's that afternoon. We ended taking off most of Owen's clothes after trick or treating so he wouldn't melt!
This will be our last MWU event (besides graduation). After this we are headed to Idaho then WA for Ryan's Clinical's for the next 6 months.
Goodbye Hot Hot Hot!

DL Day 2

Our 2nd day we started in Disneyland with the Haunted Mansion and some other rides. It was another beautiful day- and very crowded!

Kevin spoils Owen big time!

Owen and I riding The Mayflower!  I think he'd make a good pirate ;)

Then we headed over to CA Adventure. Right as we walked in we saw goofy so we decided to stand in line to see him (line was only like 4 min long). Just before it was our turn MICkEY showed up! Seriously Owen was so happy he got to see Mickey again and Goofy at the same time! haha, even though in this picture he doesn't necessarily LOOK super happy, he was. Whenever we would say bye to a character after we got our picts, Owen would always wave goodbye and blow kisses. It was adorable. He would often gives hugs to them too.

While everyone else did California Screamer, Owen and I decided to ride the carousal and hang out with Donald!

Owen LOVES LOVES LOVES cars (in general and the cartoon). I actually don't think he's ever seen the movie but there is a 30 min Mater show on Netflix that he likes to watch.  He was totally excited to see Mater and be in cars land.

this was on the Cars ride. It was one of my favorites too. Ry and I were pretty bummed Owen couldn't go on it. CA Adventure did an awesome job with this ride.

At about 4:00 in the afternoon, we decided to see the CA Adventure parade. Owen had not slept at all and was pretty darn out of it.

Owen did light up though when these 2 drove by! It was a pretty sweet parade.
After the parade was over, we went back to Disneyland to watch that parade. Of course just at the time, Owen feel asleep! Then we ended the night with a couple more rides and the light show at CA Adventure.
It was a wonderful trip, and we are so glad that we had the opportunity to go. Now back to Phoenix for 3 more weeks of school- then off to Clinical Rotations....!!!!

Disneyland!!! Day1

We went to Disneyland! I knew I wanted to take Owen before we left AZ, but didn't really think it would happen. Then Ryan's brother; Kevin called us up and invited us to go with him, Jarod, their Aunt Rhonda, and cousin Adam. The trip was an early Xmas gift from Kevin- and it was so much fun!

Owen's FIRST ride. He had a great time, and so did all of us adults watching him.

Owen only knew a few of the Disney "stuffs" (movies, characters, etc...)  but those he did know, he got very excited for. Pluto was one character he knew!

Classic Picture in the Pound!

Owen LOVES Mickey Mouse. We got to see him almost first thing our first day there. Owen ran up to him and gave him a hug.
L to R:  Rhonda, Adam Owen, Ry, Mickey, Me, Kevin, Jarod

Now it was Minnie's turn!

Owen barely made the cut for the roller coaster in Toon Town!

Owen doesn't ALWAYS smile for the camera- so we have tried to teach him to say "cheese" in hopes that a smile will come out. Here, he's saying cheese with such valor, his tiny piece of gum went flying...

...he was pretty dissappointed

He LOVED LOVED the carousal's. Luckily that's the one ride in DL that never has a line!

The adults of course had their fun too. We rocked the fast pass + child swap pass. Those things are the best! We just would switch who stayed with Owen - then most everyone got to ride the ride twice

Indiana Jones! This is definitely one of my favorite rides.  Our first attempt in line- the ride broke like almost as we were on it :(  so that was a bummer, but we did get to ride it later !

Space Cadets!   Looking back, I probably shouldn't have rode space mountain at 27 weeks pregnant. It was a pretty intense roller coaster for me. BUT I loved it!!

Owen LOVES planes! He was very excited to go on this one.
Day 1 was absolutely a success. We all had a great time. The weather was almost perfect. It was in the 70's, and occasionally we'd get a light breeze or some cloud cover. After we ate dinner, Ry took Owen and me back to the hotel so we could get some rest- then the boys went and did some of the big roller coasters at California Adventure. We were all exhausted after such a fun day.

Preschool & such

So the PT wives decided to start a sort of "pre-school" for all our kids. We have it 2x/week and rotate teaching and helping. Every day they learn a letter and a color. It's been awesome so far. The age range of kids is pretty broad; 18mo-4yrs. BUT ya do whatcha gotta do. Most of the kids are in the 2 yr old range.

Here they are "decorating" cookies for green day.

Story time

Craft time. I thought this pict was funny with all their shirts off. They were finger painting, so to prevent paint getting on their clothes, they just took them off!
It was a really fun month of learning and playing for the kids- unfortunately, we leave AZ in Nov so we dnn't get to continue preschool.  I don't know if Owen learned anything- but he sure loves to be around his friends. Um, and it's actually a pretty difficult task to teach 7-8 little kids. Props to those people who do it for a living....

Meanwhile, Owen has started to enjoy the TV a little too much. We have to limit his time , he's turning into a couch potato!!

It seems like we have good weeks and bad weeks with bedtime. This just happened to be a bad week. Owen recently has been taking FORVER to go to sleep. Like sometimes it's 2 1/2 hours before he will finally fall asleep. We've tried many different methods- but this one is my new favorite; we put him to bed and leave the door open, he gets ONE chance, and if he gets out of bed then we close the door. That wasn't working before, b/c he could open the door- but !!! smart mom got a child proof door handle thingie. SWEET!! So this particular night he lost his one chance, we closed the door and unplugged the light. Poor little guy was so sad - he put his binky under the door, but then realized he couldn't reach it. Eventually we scooted it closer to him. ;)
Needless to say, there have been many nights lately that he falls asleep on the floor at the door.

Oh, and an update on Ryan. I guess he doesn't get many. He's doing REALLY well in school. He's top 3 in his class still. This year they've been doing a lot of group projects and presentations. Sometimes the material is a little dry, so they try and spice things up a bit by dressing up and throwing in jokes. Here they are presenting on health care throughout the decades in their sweet 70's outfits.
